The Purple Door has been passionately preserving history through unique collectibles and antiques since November of 2021. The shop was initially my wife, Janice's idea, as it would give us something to do in retirement together. We bought the building to be part of the resurgence of West Walnut, in an effort to help bring life back to downtown Smithville. Before the purchase of the shop, Janice had been selling her beautiful embroidery in Button Willow General Store and Coffee. With the purchase of the shop, though, we decided to add to her works, as we thought antiques and gifts would create a unique shopping opportunity for the locals and the influx of tourists we see coming to Center Hill Lake. The Purple Door now has 3 other vendors alongside myself, each offering varying types of gifts and collectibles. Janice and I were able to do this business together for three-and-a-half years before her passing, and I will always cherish those years together. Now, I seek to honor what Janice and I started together, and continue the business, ever evolving it to bring the best of the best antiques and uniques to our community.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
